This work combines elements from art nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha and Japanese woodblock print master Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The exaggerated expressions and repetition draw from woodblock prints, while the organic line and ornamentations are influenced by the nouveau style. A sharp juxtaposition exists between the elements; akin to those necessary in self-contemplation.
